Conference Behavior Policies
The following are policies that we expect all conference participants to abide by. Breaking these policies may be grounds to remove individuals from the conference. Please be aware the no refunds will be granted to individual under any circumstances.
Respect for the Spaces and Fellow Participants:
All participants, presenters, and observers are expected to treat the University of Michigan campus, transportation vehicles, housing arrangements, and city of Ann Arbor with the utmost respect. Vandalizing, destroying, or purposefully damaging these spaces will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from campus.
Non-Discrimination policy
University of Michigan SAFE is committed to providing a learning environment free from unlawful discrimination and harassment, and to fostering a nurturing and vibrant community founded upon the fundamental dignity and worth of all of its members.
Please be aware that University of Michigan SAFE does not tolerate unlawful discrimination or harassment in any form, and provides students who feel that they are subjects of discrimination or harassment with mechanisms for seeking redress. Safe Space
Each conference participant deserves a safe learning environment where they will be respected and treated fairly by others, thus, any form of discrimination or harassment based on race, sex, gender, sexuality, religion, creed, national origin, age, and citizenship will not be tolerated.
Media Policy:
1. All visiting media will confirm that they have received, understand, and will comply with this media protocol prior to visiting any area sites of the conference.
2. All media covering the conference will wear the appropriate PRESS CREDENTIALS at all times.
3. Registered Media Representatives may only attend the opening keynote (TBA). Any other requests must pass through the SJP MEDIA/PRESS TEAM. Media representatives must never initiate contact with conference attendees. Media representatives wishing to interview and/or film an individual (filming includes still photography) must refer to the MEDIA/PRESS TEAM, who will approach/contact the individual to determine that interviewing and/or filming is safe and appropriate in the circumstances.
4. Permission to interview and/or film may be denied even in cases where the individual has given “consent”–if, for example, a member of the media/press team determines that consent has not been meaningfully given.
5. Failure to adhere to the media protocol by a media representative will result in termination of cooperation by SJP and a request for the media representative to leave the conference.
6. We strongly suggest that media representatives learn all they can about SJP (i.e, by exploring our website (sjpnational.org) and reading news articles) before coming to the conference.
7. Media will contribute appropriate (conference) fees if taking meals at sites.
8. By joining SJP work, media representatives agree whenever possible to provide SJP with a copy of their article, pictures, film, etc.
